Reading and Graduating

Right now I am reading a book about a tomboy that starts to like her best friend. Her best friend is so used to her acting like one of the guys that he cant take it seriously that she likes him. Her name is Jordan and she decides to starts acting like a girl so he will like her back.
Graduation is almost here! I'm so excited for the summer because I get to hang out with my friends and have time for a job to make some money. College is coming quick too! I bought my futon the other day and I am signed up for orientation. On April 5th and 6th, I will be down in Ames to watch the ISU Fashion Show and be there for Greek Day. I have my application for the ISU Dance Team try outs all filled out and I am ready to go to college. First I have to receive my diploma and have my graduation party. This is all happening extremely fast but I'm glad!

I am most excited to graduate because I am ready for something new. I am so excited for college and to learn about what I want to do for the rest of my life. I have dreamed of going to school for Fashion Merchandising at Iowa state and I am about to live the dream. I am excited to see where life takes me and I want to graduate tomorrow!

The best of me still lives in you.

Knock knock with the knowledge that you are my daughter,

But you are not my choices.

You are you.

You make your own choices,

Your own decisions,

Your own mistakes.

You know what is right and wrong.

You have your own beliefs,

Your own morals.

Be who you are

Without me telling you who to be.

Be better than me.

Learn from my mistakes

So that you, my daughter,

Can be the best person

That you can possibly be.

A Place so Beautiful

My attention was captured as I came rolling up the hill on Reiter Rd. My foot suddenly stomps on the break of the car and in that exact moment, I am thankful, because my home is beautiful. The glistening blades of grass covered in frost catch my eyes. My eyes continue to look forward and all around me as I try to take in the beauty and perfection of where I reside. Looking out my window, I can sense outside is awfully chilly, but seeing my home made me feel warm. The season is winter and Christmas is almost here. Garland and wreaths with red bows decorate the white porch. White snow sparkles on the black rooftop of a house not too small and not too big. Snow lies untouched in our oversized yard and the sun is lost in a gray sky behind dull clouds. I stop the vehicle to take a moment to thank God for all he has given me. He made this world so beautiful and He has given me a wonderful life. My home is my favorite place to be. The best memories, the best family, and the best friends come from my home. Homes are capable of hosting all kinds of celebrations like Christmas or birthday parties. We have family dinners every Sunday night with all nine of us gathered around the table. Ending the night with a game of Dominoes and sipping on a little bit of red or white wine. Love, laughter, madness, and tears fill my home.

Google’s definition of home: A place where one lives. My definition of home: A place where one feels safe, where one feels warm, where one can be who they are. Home is where we can laugh loudly, sing obnoxiously, love tenderly, and dance wildly. Home is where one goes to weep on the shoulders of the family when they are feeling sad. Home is where we go when we have no other place to go because home is not just a place where one lives.

I take my foot off the brake of the car and press the gas pedal. I roll up the gravel driveway, lightly hidden by a thin layer of snow. I pull up and get out of my car, to walk into what I call, my beautiful home.

Some things you just can’t learn..

Some things you just cannot learn by giving up. People do not realize that one must put up a fight in order to get what they want. We desire so many things in life and to earn these things we must work hard. Not everything in life is handed to us. I have learned this throughout my career in dance. Winning is not easy; it requires hard work. My freshman year of dance I was in the dance factory every single day. We had practice in the morning, and at night. We were there after school until actual practice started as late as eight o’clock sometimes. Usually I went without supper. Supper was not important though, winning was. I was not the only one doing this. All sixteen of us worked hard and put long hours in daily. We had long practices on the weekend and it was not always fun. Working hard is never easy, but it is always worth it. All the blood that was bled caused by injury, all the feelings that were hurt from critique, and all the tears that were cried caused by frustration were worth it. By it, I mean our trophies; our three first place trophies, our judge’s choice award, and best yet, our eighth place trophy at nationals. Out of all the teams in the nation, we were eighth.

When times get tough it is not okay to give up. Giving up is never an option when it comes to winning. Nowhere along our journey did any of us take a break. When the tasks got tougher, we pushed ourselves harder. I firmly believe people give up. “The grass is always greener on the other side.”  But your grass could be just as green if you took care of it. Work hard to get what you want out of life; we get out of life what we put into it.

Reading a Book

The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks

I  am only on page five right now, but so far so good. The beginning starts off pretty slow but I heard it gets really good. The Best of Me is a love story between two high school sweethearts. Eventually the lovebirds break up and go their separate ways, but in the long run they meet up again. Once they see each other they realize how much love is still between them and have to decide if they should still be together or not.

All About Kelsey

I'm Kelsey Inez Sadler and I like cats. I have one cat and his name is Musky. My favorite colors are pink, black, brown, gray, light yellow and any shade of purple. I am 17 years of age and I will be 18 on the second of January. I enjoy long walks on the beach.. just kidding. I try to stay involved at school by being apart of Student Council, National Honor Society, SAFE, Mentoring, Cougar Crew, Track Manager, Football Manager Drama, Speech, and Dance. Dance is by far my favorite thing to do because I get to be with my best friends and it is really fun. I have never worked so hard in my life and I am proud to say I'm on the Cascade Dance Team. Right next to dance, my other favorite thing is fashion. I love clothes and I love shopping. I plan on attending Iowa State University for Fashion Merchandising or Marketing.
